Christmas is a perfect time to organize your wedding in Italy. Spirits are high and everyone is in happy mood already, so your event will only add to those good feelings. Imagine your venue with Christmas trees, lights, holy and all Christmassy splendor. Not only joy for everyone but also tribute to your families.
Christmas: mulled vine, gingerbreads, candles and fireplace. Gifts and wishes, love and peace. It’s just the right setting for your wedding.
To start, choose the color of your wedding: traditional Christmas colors are green and red, but even more suitable in this case will be white and gold or silver. As most of venues and churches will already have decorations, make sure they are the color you chose. It is even good if you visit them an year before to see usual decorations they use.
You may use candles to lit the reception hall: that will create warm atmosphere. Don’t forget Christmas tree, under which your guests can place wedding gifts instead of traditional gift table. Find out if your venue has a fireplace where your guests can sip mulled vine and eat hot mince pies and gingerbreads. Have Christmas carols played before reception starts.
As for your wedding invitation, of course you don’t want them to look like Christmas cards. So leave alone folded invitation and instead go for simple single card ones. To accentuate wedding theme just add a little snowflakes or mistletoe as ornaments. Because it is a holiday period and people often have things already organized use little “save the date” cards with same motif as on your invitations. Remember: send them two months in advance to avoid unpleasant plan collisions.
For the ceremony, if you are going to have flower girls you can dress them in deep red or green velvet dresses, but if you prefer plain white add a sash or ribbon of those colors. That will look just Christmassy but simply. If you want a really winter touch make the flower girls scatter faux snow or feathers instead of traditional petals. As for your bridesmaids why not make them hold candles adorned with mistletoe and holly instead of bouquets.
For your own flowers you can use Poinsettia flowers, adorned with holly, mistletoe or ivy, it will look really lovely.
For the wedding meal go simply and traditional. The food should reflect the festivity mood, so serve your guests traditional Christmas dinner, with roast turkey with cranberry sauce, roast potatoes. The dessert of course will be your wedding cake. To keep it in relative with wedding theme you can get your cake made as pile of gift boxes, tied with ribbon. Either you can have a simple white snowflake cake, with sugar snowflakes to decorate it.
